There will be a dinner break between the workshop and concert when participants can sample some of the delicious food available from vendors in the Transfer Co Food Hall.
ABOUT THE CONCERT: Bill and Alan have worked up a richly varied set of tunes on banjos and guitars that will showcase the full range of the instruments. Bill tells us “…the evening will feature tunes from Alan Munde’s truly spectacular new project Excelsior along with my new recording Things are Simple. I’ll no doubt bring a couple of different instruments to create a variety of banjo sounds. We’re calling it the Two Banjos are Better Than One 2024 World Tour.”
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: Alan and Bill are team teaching a class for all levels that will explore bluegrass banjo playing from the basics to more advanced concepts and attempt to answer questions and address the concerns of the class. Topics can include Scruggs rolls and how they work in creating solos, melodic banjo, music theory, jam survival skills, standard bluegrass licks and what they do, hand positions and wearing picks, using the capo banjo set up and more. The interests of the class will direct our time and your questions are encouraged. This will be a hands-on bring-your-banjo-and-let’s-pick style of session and provides a rare opportunity to get to know to bluegrass banjo masters.
