Local RALEIGH Artist Shares His Love for the Food Hall
If you’ve been to Transfer Co. Food Hall then you’ve seen, photographed or gathered with friends under the massive RALEIGH art installation above Locals Oyster Bar. That’s the work of the multi-talented George Hage — musician, artist, designer and Transfer Co. friend. When George isn't working out of his home office, you can often find him doodling away upstairs in our Mezzanine. We caught up with George recently for quick chat about his work and Transfer Co. Food Hall:
1) Introduce Yourself: What's your name and occupation?
Hi! I’m George Hage. I’m an experienced Graphic Designer & Project Manager, PMP®. I’m also a published songwriter and performer primarily with the band Jack the Radio.
2) We see you quite a bit at Transfer Co.! How does the food hall fit into your life since we've opened?
Transfer Co is such a welcoming space that pulls in so many great elements of the cultures that make up our community and city while still maintaining the charm and history of the building itself. The team there has done an amazing job curating such an amazing environment for all ages. There's space not only for amazing food but also for live music, art, and rotating installations like the DreamvilleFest pieces or even motorcycles!
It's been a great place to meet with clients during the day to discuss projects in a laid back and comfortable environment. In the evenings it's been a great spot to catch up with family and friends over food and drinks. On top of all that Transfer Co. has been home to the RALEIGH art installation I created with Artsplosure earlier this year. I couldn't think of a better place for it. I'm very excited to see what's to come with the new Transfer Co. Ballroom and already have some art things in the works with the team at Transfer Co.
3) What do you enjoy most about Transfer Co.?
I love the natural light during the day, the artwork, and the eclectic variety of comforting foods. I also appreciate the seating options from the communal areas, outdoors, dock, to the quieter upstairs area. I even find myself working there when I need to get out of my home office.
4) Where can we find you?

Thank you, George, for not only being a frequent Transfer Co. go-er but also an advocator and collaborator of the food hall! Hey, Raleigh — do you often find yourself needing a place away from the home office, like George? We're opening a new Work Hall soon. For more info, here.
